Chapter 1 – Trailhead troubles

We had just flown into Seattle, gathered our 2 weeks worth of supplies, filming gear, and climbing equipment, and after the 5 hours of driving from Seattle and down the dusty forest roads to get to the trailhead, we finally found ourselves on the trail, burdened by what I can only explain as the most difficult and heavy pack job of my life. We knew we had a lot of equipment, but it wasn’t until we really started up the trail that we realized we had bitten off way too much for that first day. It took us about 4 hours of hiking up the trailhead to get to the overpass, which is when the troubles really started, but these first 4 hours were traveled at a blistering pace of less than 1 mile an hour.  Lugging the equipement up like a bunch of mules was not the glorious job we had envisioned, and the story was quickly unfolding into a completely different direction than we had ever envisioned. But MAN! Was it beautiful up there…
