Brothers Ben, Mark, and Joe find themselves deep in the Smoky Mountains backpacking for the first time. The struggles, bonds, and intense gratification when finishing strong, sends Ben on a mission to share this in a film.
2015
Ben discovers Trapper Lake while scouring the web for a new hike. With such little information on the lake, and even less of it photographed, he starts developing a weeklong hike and a short documentary to discover what he believes to be a hidden treasure.
April 2015 - June 2017
Ben's first attempt at getting to the lake is postponed due to avalanche season, so he quickly reschedules.
Again and again plans go awry for two and a half years. After more research, development, and scheduling, a new two week project is scheduled for an extensive feature length documentary on the remains of Trapper Lake.
July 2017
Despite the heaviest snow season in decades, a limited window of weather and safety, and never having been in the North Cascades, the team sets out with over 400 lbs of filming, photography, rafting, mountaineering, and fishing gear to capture what they hope is the lost gem of the North Cascades.
